Ontario Benthos Biomonitoring Network (OBBN) Training and Certification Course Location: Kawartha Conservation– 277 Ken Rei Rd, Lindsay, Ont K9V 4R1 Date: April 29, 30 and May 1 Time: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm Cost: $500 plus HST Program Overview: This three-day course covers biomonitoring theory, sampling methods, specimen taxonomy, data management, and bioassessment calculations. The training is recommended for anyone interested in using benthic macroinvertebrates to monitor lakes, wetlands or streams using provincially standardized methods. Participants who obtain a 90% on the final identification exam will receive course certification. Limited to 20 participants. Instructor: - Mark Williamson Ph.D. is a certified OBBN instructor with 30 years experience in the field as an ecologist and educator. He has taught at Trent University and Fleming College, and has diverse experience as a wetland evaluator, stream assessor and field ecologist. He holds a Certified Taxonomist (Family level) certification for freshwater insects from the Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) and Stroud Water Research Center. REFUND POLICY Kawartha Conservation DOES NOT issue refunds once the course has been partially or substantially completed. If a refund is requested within 7 days of a course start date, a 50% refund fee will apply. This fee maybe waived or adjusted with CAO approval in extenuating circumstances. If a refund is requested outside of the 7 days of a course start date, a 10% refund fee will apply.
